Bagoong Fried Rice with Mango

Ah, of course! We all know that rice has been the staple food of Filipinos for hundreds of years, already, right? In fact, it is the main agricultural product of almost every country in Asia and that’s also why rice is an integral part of Asian cuisine. But hey, rice isn’t always a side dish. There are lots of Filipino dishes that use rice as their main ingredients like suman, kutsinta, lugaw, and many more. But among these famous Filipino dishes, there’s one recipe of rice that almost every household cooks every single day and I’m sure you’re very familiar with it! It is called Fried Rice or Sinangag. Depending on your creativity, the variations of fried rice are essentially limitless. As long as you have rice, you can create a new recipe on your own!

Today, we’ll be cooking Bagoong Fried Rice with Mango. That’s right! This fried rice recipe will be the perfect pair for any kind of dish that you like whether it’s fried, grilled, or roasted. Bagoong Fried Rice with Mango Recipe

When you’re finally able to master this recipe, I’m sure that your family dinners will always be extra special! The best part? The cooking procedures of this recipe are beginner-friendly and very easy to follow. Moreover, the ingredients can be easily bought from local markets and nearby grocery stores so I’m sure that you won’t have a hard time gathering all of them. 

Alright! Before we begin, let me first list down all of the ingredients we’ll need for today’s awesome recipe. Are you ready? Here it goes! We need tomato, onion, garlic, bagoong (shrimp paste), mango, chili, spring onion, salt, pepper, sugar, oil, and of course, rice! Oh, and for this recipe, we’ll be using L.O. Rice or Steamed Glutinous Rice so that the dish remains saucy and savory. 

Okay, now that we’ve got everything that we need, it’s finally time to cook! This one’s very quick and easy to do so stay alert, alright? The first thing that we need to do is of course heat the pan, pour some oil, and then sautè the onion and garlic until they become translucent. Next, we can now add the tomato, mango, and bagoong. Mix them all well until the ingredients become fully incorporated with each other. After that, we can now sprinkle the salt, pepper, and sugar to season and the red chili to add some spice! 

Finally, we can now add the L.O. Rice and mix everything well until all the ingredients are combined and evenly distributed. Keep on mixing the dish until the rice becomes cooked. And voila! Serve this yummy Bagoong Fried Rice with Mango while it’s hot then just sprinkle some spring onions for garnish.

  • 3 cups of L.O rice
  • 1 pc tomato 
  • 1 pc onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • ¼ cup of  shrimp paste
  • 1 pc green mango
  • 1 pc chili (optional)
  • Spring onion
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Oil for saute


  1. Heat the pan with oil then sauté the garlic and onion until translucent.
  2. Add the tomato, mango and shrimp paste. Mix well
  3. Add the chili and season with salt , pepper and sugar.
  4. Add the L.O rice and mix it well until well cooked.
  5. Serve while hot and garnish with spring onion. Enjoy
