Banana Milo Dessert

In the Philippines, Milo is a classic breakfast staple loved by kids of all ages. Since kids below 12 are not allowed to drink caffeinated drinks, Filipino parents give their children a glass of hot Milo instead of coffee. Kids drink it in the morning before heading to school or enjoy it as an ice pop and cold beverage to quench their thirst after playtime. Sometimes, we even eat it straight from the pack without adding water. In addition, Milo is commonly added to Filipino desserts, from cakes, smoothies, and ice cream. So, in this article, we’ll share another chocolatey treat – the Banana Milo Dessert recipe!

But before anything else, let’s find out why Filipinos love Milo. Developed by an Australian food scientist, Thomas Mayne, in 1934, Milo is made of malted powder with milk and cocoa, giving it a chocolatey flavor. Nestlé produced this product, which is loved by generations of Filipino children. Besides its chocolatey taste that appeals to most kids, many parents give their kids Milo for its health benefits. Considered as the world’s leading chocolate malt beverage, Milo is often added with milk or water, served hot or cold.

Milo contains essential nutrients that boost kids’ energy levels, especially those who engage in sports. It has vitamins A, B, C, calcium, and iron. No wonder many parents give their kids this chocolate malt beverage. Therefore, Milo is beneficial for the mind and body of children since it contains nutrients they need the most for their development. Moreover, you can use Milo in many ways to spoil your kids. You can turn it into an ice pop, ice cream, chocolatey shakes, cupcakes, and graham cake.

But what if you want to make a simple dessert just for yourself? Or maybe make a budget-friendly yet healthy dessert for your family to enjoy? Whether you’re on a budget or simply cutting down some weight, the Banana Milo Dessert recipe will deliver. This recipe is a bit similar to Milo Graham Float or Milo Graham Ref Cake. However, it’s easier to make and requires fewer ingredients. In fact, even kids can make this recipe by themselves without any pressure. That’s how simple it is to make the Banana Milo Dessert recipe.

To make this recipe, you’ll need to mix Milo, cornstarch, and sugar in a clean mixing bowl. Add the evaporated milk into the bowl and mix it thoroughly, ensuring all the powdered ingredients are dissolved. Heat the mixture on low fire and stir until it’s thick. After that, create another mix for the garnish containing sugar and powdered milk dissolved in water. Now, it’s time to do the plating. Get a round plate and cover it with a plastic wrap. Slice and arrange the bananas on the plate. Pour the Milo mixture and spread it evenly, ensuring all the bananas are covered.

Next, add pieces of Graham crackers on top of the Milo mixture. Cover it with plastic wrap and let it chill in the fridge for 2 hours. Once your Banana Milo Dessert has solidified, take it out on the fridge. Get another plate and flip your dessert over. Remove the plastic wrap and drizzle the milk and sugar mixture you prepared earlier. To make it more chocolatey, garnish your Banana Milo Dessert with grated chocolate and serve!
