Fiesta Ice Candy Recipe

Fiesta Ice Candy Recipe

You may have already encountered our mango and oreo ice candies in this site. And here comes another flavored ice treat-fiesta ice candy. The name seems celebratory, right? If you are a Filipino, you may probably know why? The word fiesta in this recipe actually comes from the brand name of our main ingredients, that is, Del Monte Fiesta fruit cocktail. It is a very common brand of fruit cocktail in the Philippines. It is a delicious and refreshing mixture of high-quality fruits and nata de coco, and it is being used as a versatile ingredient for desserts, not in this recipe here.

As you may have known already, ice candies are the same as the freezie or freeze pop in the United States. They are also called ice lollies in Scotland. Basically, these treats are a water-based frozen snack made by freezing flavored liquid, such as sugar water, fruit juice, or puree, inside a plastic casing or tube (either round or flat). Filipino ice candies come in different flavors. Among the favorite flavors  are orange, mango, buko, and avocado. Chocolate-flavored ones are also popular. Almost any fruit or even chocolate can be used to make this summer treat.

How about a mixture of fruits? That is what our here recipe is about. We will use not just fruit cocktail. We will also use buko meat and condensed milk. Although optional, the vanilla extract will enhance its scent and gives a smooth and almost savory flavor. You can also add cornstarch or cassava starch to make your ice candies soft and smooth. This recipe, similar to other ice candy recipes, is easy to follow. You can easily make this with kids. This will come handy, especially during summer season. It may not be summer yet, but it can also be a good dessert to end your lunch.
