So you are craving for that skewered street food, or you just want to try eating one? Or maybe you are just like me who loves to eat street food with that lovely sauce. Whichever, it is easy to have your favorite snack! Go, run to the nearest supermarket and find a good pack of those ready to fry fishballs. Well, eating it will not be so fun without that tasty sauce you usually have from the street vendors. Then, better prepare those cornstarch, flour, brown sugar, soysauce, garlic, and shallot for a manong’s type of sauce (Manongs refer to those street food vendor that you often see and buy from). Have you ever wondered how the manongs are making it? What makes that sauce so special? There are some who would actually buy fishball just to taste that sweet, sometimes spicy sauce.
Now, time to make your own dip. It is just a matter of combining, and mixing, and stirring. And there goes the enticing fishball sauce! Don’t forget to fry your fishballs to crispiness! Happy snack time!

Fishballs with Special Manong’s Sauce
Ingredients
- Fishballs:
- fishballs
- oil
- Manong's Sauce:
- 4 cups water
- ⅓ cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp flour
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 shallot finely chopped or minced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- salt
Instructions
- In a saucepan combine all manong's sauce ingredients, mix well until free of lumps.
- Place in stove top then cook by gently simmering in medium low heat until sauce thickens.
- Deep fry fishballs according to your liking, if using the Philippine fishballs fry them until they are really crispy.
