This recipe is easy to make and one of the cheapest you can order from Jollibee. Making your own Burger Steak is also more affordable than eating out. But before we proceed, let’s look into the dish’s origin. As mentioned earlier, the Jollibee-Style Burger Steak with Mushroom Gravy is inspired by the Salisbury steak dish, which originated in Hamburg, Germany.

In the 1800s, the Germans developed the dish Hamburg steak. It’s made of minced meat formed into a steak, grilled, and served with gravy. When Germans immigrated to other countries, they introduced the dish to others, including the United States, where the Salisbury steak originated. The American version of the dish got its name from Dr. James Henry Salisbury after he commended the nutrition and health benefits of minced beef patties. Since then, Salisbury steak has become a staple American food and is commonly shown as a TV dinner.

Technically, the dish does not contain steak. Instead, it’s minced meat shaped into a patty. Then, it’s served with a mushroom gravy sauce and a side of mashed potatoes and vegetables, like corn or peas. So, the Jollibee-Style Burger Steak with Mushroom Gravy is an affordable way to enjoy Salisbury steak. To make it, buy all the ingredients for the patties, including ground beef, egg, pepper, salt, and bread crumbs. You can also use pork as a cheaper alternative. Prepare butter, garlic, button mushrooms, all-purpose flour, and beef cubes for the sauce.

Additionally, you can combine ground beef and pork to make your burger patties tastier. However, if your time is tight or on a budget, you can opt for pre-made hamburger patties from the supermarket. Once you have all the ingredients ready, it’s time to make the burger patties. Mix the ground beef/pork, egg, and bread crumbs. Season it with salt and pepper and mix it thoroughly to even out the ingredients. Next, form the ground meat mixture into patties and set aside or freeze it for about 30 minutes before frying. Then, fry your burger patties and drain the excess oil.

Now, let’s make the Mushroom Gravy sauce. Melt butter in the pan on medium heat. Add the ingredients separately, including garlic, button mushrooms, all-purpose flour, and water with the beef cube. Saute or mix each ingredient for 1 minute before adding the other. On low heat, let the sauce simmer until thick. Then, set your fried patties on the plate and pour the mushroom gravy sauce. You can serve it with steamed rice for a classic Jollibee-Style Burger Steak with Mushroom Gravy experience!
