How to Make Homemade Magnum Milo Ice Candy “Must Try Recipe”

If you’ve been browsing through this site before looking for delicious Filipino recipes that you can recreate yourself, you already probably know that I have a sweet tooth. This site is already equal parts savory Filipino recipes with equal parts sweet tooth-rotting desserts. Or snacks.

It’s none of my business what time of day anyone wants to eat their homemade sweets. I definitely grab treats and homemade sweets at random times of the day whenever I had the cravings. I do think that I need to get this under control. Which is easier said than done since a lot of Filipino snacks and treats just hit all the right buttons whenever I get cravings for something sweet.

Chocolates have always been my weak spot. I don’t care what kind of chocolate it is from the more expensive kind to the bite pieces we can buy at sari-sari stores, I’m up for it. I’m not picky, especially as a kid. Though, now as an adult, I am learning to control my cravings.

Now, there’s this ice cream bar called Magnum and I confess, it is my guilty pleasure. Anytime I would stop at a convenience store, I would get a Magnum Classic ice cream. I’ve even tried the other Magnum flavors but the Magnum classic is definitely my favorite.

I always liked the experience of taking a bite out of the solid bar of chocolate, hearing the crack, and have the chocolate melt in my mouth. The vanilla ice cream filling also perfectly balances the flavor of the Belgian chocolate and not make it overwhelm the palate with its rich flavor and texture.

Unfortunately, because of the lockdown, it’s been weeks since I got a bar of the classic Magnum ice cream. I mean, I know that I can live without it, but it’s one of the little sacrifices I had to take to follow quarantine guidelines.

Now, everything is slowly opening back up. I barely go to convenient stores anymore and only go outside whenever it’s necessary.

So imagine my delight when one day, I saw this trending dessert recipe online of homemade Magnum. Right? I had to try it right away. So I got all the ingredients during a grocery trip and the results are delicious. Not exactly like the Magnum Classic you can buy from convenience stores but the homemade version serves its purpose of satisfying my craving for delicious chocolate ice cream bars well enough.

I love that this supposedly homemade Magnum recipe incorporates Filipino techniques and ingredients to recreate the Dutch treat. The use of ice candy molds is a work of genius. It’s an inexpensive version of the somewhat pricey chocolate bar which can bring a little spark of light to people during these times.

Plus, because of the inexpensive materials, ingredients, and how easy it is to make, people can make a business out of this recipe to earn some extra income.

I originally wasn’t planning on featuring this recipe on this site since it’s already such a well-known recipe and it’s currently trending online. But I loved this recipe so much and I even did a bit of experimenting with the ingredients. I incorporated Milo powder into the filling and boy did it make a difference.

The Milo actually gave the sweet filling a little kick of flavor. So now I want everyone to know about this modified recipe.

I listed down below all the ingredients that’s needed for this ice candy recipe. Mixing all the ingredients in a bowl needs a little strength to get the desired consistency unless you have a mixer at home. And it can get a little messy, especially when the melted chocolate is being transferred to the ice candy molds.

Other than that, this is a very easy recipe to accomplish. All the instructions to make this homemade Magnum Milo ice candy is enumerated down below. But if you’re not interested in lists and reading the instructions, we’ve made a fun video for you complete with all the ingredients and the step by step guide on how to make this recipe.

I’m sure this sweet chocolate dessert will satisfy all your cravings. Enjoy!
