Meatballs with Mushroom Gravy

Who would say no to meatballs? Well, I know for a fact that I won’t! Meatballs are a treat from the heavens, it doesn’t matter what size or sauce it comes from, the only thing that matters is that it’s irresistibly delicious! Whether it’s the famous Spaghetti Meatballs from America, Italian Meatballs, Turkish Meatballs, Swedish Meatballs, and the Spanish Meatballs, it will definitely be tasty!

Out of all the meatballs I mentioned, you’re probably only familiar with two. First, the American Meatballs or the classic Spaghetti with Meatballs. You may have tried this in some local restaurants such as Yellow Cab and Sbarro. Yummy, right? The other one I’m talking about is the Spanish Meatballs, you may not be familiar with this at first but let’s try its real name, the Albondigas. The Albondigas is a simple soup made with sauteed onions, garlic, broth, tomatoes, and the star of the dish, ground beef or turkey with rice! This one’s a Spanish dish, does it remind you of a similar Filipino dish?

Yes, you got that one right! Albondigas basically influenced one of our tasty Filipino dishes called the Almondigas. This is also a simple soup consisting of two (2) main ingredients, the meatballs, and patola (loofa or Chinese okra). I’m sure a lot of Filipinos encountered this dish during their childhood days up until now. Some also call it the Misua and Patola. See? Even our country has its own version of a meatball dish. Although I guess we already saw that one coming given that our country was heavily influenced by many countries such as the USA, Spain, and Japan.

We Filipinos are known to love food so much. That being said, we’re also known to create new dishes by elevating them! That is why today, we’ll be making a delicious and savory twist to the meatball dish as we know it. Today, Panlasang Pinoy Recipes will teach us how to make the Meatballs with Mushroom Gravy Recipe! Surely, everyone, especially the kids, will love this recipe!
