Steamed tilapia in pandan leaves Recipe

Who doesn’t love fish? And who does not know tilapia? Well, everyone must be familiar with this freshwater fish that is among the well-loved dish in the table, may it be cooked in coconut milk, or plainly fried. Currently, tilapia is one of the several commercially important aquaculture species in the Philippines.

Being a low calorie food that is also low in fat, fish is among the healthy options of those in conscious diet or way of living. Fishes are beneficial to your health, as they are rich in Omega 3 or fatty acids. Steaming tilapia adds more to it, as steaming is healthier than frying. This cooking technique retains much of the food’s flavour, shape, and texture, as well as its nutrients. The fish may be steamed plainly, but the addition of spices brings color to the dish. Not only that these can get rid of the fishy smell, but pandan leaves, as well as the ginger and lemon grass, enhance the flavour of the fish amazingly. Add to it the tomato, garlic, chili, and onions, drizzled with olive oil. Making your stomach growl?

Though simple, this steamed tilapia recipe is surely celestial, but will not make you feel guilty of the oils and calories. Try it!

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg tilapia fillet
  • 100 g ginger, julienned
  • 50 g garlic, thinly sliced
  • 100 g red onion, sliced
  • 30 g green chili, julienned
  • 100 g tomatoes, round slices
  • 50 g lemon grass, white part only, chopped
  • ¼ cup lime juice
  • ¼ cup oil
  • 24 inches pandan leaves
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp crushed black peppercorns

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Season tilapia with salt, pepper, lime juice.
  2.  Lay pandan leaves on chopping board. Drizzle with oil.
  3.  Place on top the ginger, garlic, red onion, green chili, tomato and lemon grass. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil.
  4.  Wrap with pandan leaves, then place in steamer until done.

  2. baka gusto mong balikan / basahin ulit yung cooking instruction mo.

    1. timplahan yung tilapia.

    malamang, sa isang plato o anumang lalagyan.

    2. kukuha ka ng chopping board, ilalagay mo yung pandan leaves.

    sa mga oras nato, malamang hndi naman tumalon sa plato yung tilapia na tinimplahan mo sa instruction number 1.

    so balk taco sa instruction mo… pagkalatag mo ng pandan sa chopping board:

    3. ilalagay mo yung “ginger, garlic, red onion, green chili, tomato and lemon grass.”
    tapos: “season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil.

    then:

    4. babalutin mo na at lulutuin sa steamer?

    saan napunta yung isda? nsa plato pa rin na pinagtimplahan mo kanina? o tama ako? tumalon nga ng kusa sa nilatag mong pandan leaves yung isda…??!!!
