Tofu Sisig Recipes

Sizzling Tofu Recipe

Don’t worry, making your own version of Sizzling Tofu at home is very easy. All of the ingredients we’ll be using are readily available from your local grocery stores and markets and on top of that, it will only take you about fifteen (15) minutes to prepare! Are you ready? Let’s get started! 

For the ingredients, we will need white onion, garlic, red and green chili, bell pepper, calamansi, salt, pepper, sugar, mayonnaise, butter, Knorr seasoning, and of course, Tokwa or Tofu! I suggest that you use Tofu because it’s much more tender than Tokwa, but it also works and tastes just fine!

To start, simply dice the tofu, onion, and bell peppers. Then, make sure to chop the garlic. If you prefer your Sizzling Tofu recipe to be savory and spicy, then you can go ahead and chop the green and red chilies as well! 

Next up, fry the diced tofu in a pan until it turns golden brown. Make sure to strain the excess oil, okay? We don’t want our Sizzling Tofu to be excessively oily. After frying, set the tofu aside for a minute. 

You can now saute the other ingredients such as onion, garlic, and bell pepper. Add the chilies and the fried tofu, mix them well until all the flavors blend with each other. 

Here comes the best part! Next up, season the ingredients by adding salt, pepper, sugar, Knorr seasoning, calamansi, and mayonnaise! (It wouldn’t be Sisig without the touch of mayonnaise, right?) Stir them well. 

Finally, pour the contents of the pan into a sizzling plate for better plating and experience! You can also add extra mayonnaise and chilies depending on your preference. After all, the creamier and spicier, the better. Serve with a cup of freshly cooked rice and your dinner is all set!

Ingredients
  • 6 pcs Tokwa/ Tofu (dice)
  • 1 pc white onion ( dice)
  • 3 cloves garlic (chopped)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 small bell pepper(small dice)
  • 1 pc chili red
  • 1 pc chili green
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 pcs calamansi
  • ⅛ cup knorr seasoning
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Oil for frying
Instructions
  1. Prepare and slice all the ingredients and cooking tools.
  2. Heat the pan with oil and fry the tofu until golden brown. Strained the excess oil
  3. After frying, in the same pan remove the oil and add the butter.
  4. Saute the onion, garlic, and bell pepper then add the chillies and fried tofu.
  5. Seasoned with salt, pepper, sugar, knorr seasoning, calamansi and mayonnaise. Stir it well
  6. Served in a Sizzling Plate and Add more mayonnaise if you like, with knorr seasoning, extra chili and calamansi.
