2. Dinengdeng Ilocano

Next is one of the famous Ilocano dishes created, the Dinengdeng. This yet another quick and easy recipe consists of a simple set of vegetable ingredients including squash flower, malunggay, okra, string beans, ampalaya, ginger, tomato, and onion. The special ingredient for Dinengdeng is the bagoong isda and the addition of grilled fish! You can use either fried bangus or tilapia for this dish if you want, so enjoy!

3. Bulanglang

Just like the first two recipes, Bulanglang mainly consists of boiling healthy vegetables including green papaya, squash, okra, patola, tomatoes, garlic, lemongrass, and ginger. It’s usually characterized as a vegetable stew that’s best paired with a cup of rice. To make it even more special, some add cubes of meat such as pork or beef to add some protein to the already stacked set of vitamins and nutrients composing the ingredients of Bulanglang.

4. Laing

Ah, probably one of the most famous Filipino dishes especially if you’re a spicy food-lover is the iconic Laing. This dish consists mainly of shredded and dried taro leaves that are slowly cooked on a flavorful mix of coconut milk, garlic, onions, ginger, lemongrass, and shrimp paste. Oh, and of course, what makes Laing extra special are the tons of chili peppers added to kick up the flavor and spice of the dish! You can also add strips of meat such as pork to add more flavor and texture to the dish. Although eating Laing can typically make you want to eat more rice, it is still one of the healthiest Filipino dishes created. Yum!
